Where is help?

We have put together a detailed list of suggestions, and sites, which we also have available as a handout.

Some software and hardware we especially recommend:

  • ZoneAlarm, from Zone Labs, for all Windows operating systems
  • Netgear RT 311 and its cousin, the 314, for a filtering router
  • SonicWall for firewalls
  • Patch early, patch often. Just because you have an iMac, doesn't mean that bad things won't happen to you.
  • Buy a virus checker, and update it often.
  • Uninstall old software. Don't download things that you aren't sure of.
